Polk County runs its own landfill system, and since June 2026 the closest option to Davenport, Haines City and the Four Corners area is the Northeast Landfill Customer Convenience Center on Bannon Island Road. It charges a flat rate by vehicle instead of weighing you. The North Central Transfer Station in Auburndale is the residents' entrance to the main landfill and charges by the ton. The North Central Landfill itself is now commercial haulers only.

The honest comparison
When a hauler beats the free option in Polk County
The county sites are the cheap way to get rid of a pickup load, and Rob will tell you so. Ten dollars at the Haines City center is hard to beat if you have a truck, the time, and a load that fits the rules. Where it stops working: a refrigerator or freezer, which the Haines City center refuses and the transfer station charges by the ton for; anything you can't get out of the house yourself; a pile that's more than a couple of pickup trips; and the weekday hours, which end at 3 or 4 p.m. Commercial loads and dump trailers aren't allowed at either resident site.
Big Rob's charges $125 for a single item and $225 to $700 by trailer load, all-inclusive, and the crew carries it out and drives to the landfill. Polk County's curbside service also collects furniture and appliances on a schedule if you can get them to the curb and wait. Rob is the option when it's inside, it's heavy, or it needs to be gone today.
