Lake County runs a real network of drop-off centers, and the rules are the same at all of them: residents only, proof of residency, no commercial waste. The catch is what the neighborhood centers won't take. Mattresses, box springs, appliances and construction debris only go to the Central Facility in Tavares, and yard waste at the centers is capped at four cubic yards a day, four feet long and six inches thick.
For Clermont, Minneola, Groveland and the Four Corners side of the county, the Clermont (Loghouse) center is the near one, open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Tavares is the trip for anything the centers refuse.

When a hauler beats the free option in Lake County
For a car-trunk load of cardboard, an old TV or the half-cans of paint in the garage, the Clermont center on a Saturday is free and it's the right answer. Where the county system stops working is exactly the stuff people call Rob about: a mattress, a fridge, a torn-out deck. The neighborhood centers won't take any of those; they're a Tavares trip, thirty-plus miles from Four Corners, on a weekday or a Saturday before five, with proof of residency and a fee at the gate.
