Mulberry was founded as a phosphate town around the turn of the twentieth century, and the industry never left. The Mulberry Phosphate Museum sits in the old railroad depot at SR-60 and SR-37, with fossils from the mines and an 1880s locomotive. Mosaic's mines are still the big employer out those same two state roads. The city itself is small, a few thousand people, and semi-rural.

Housing is older in town, frame and block homes from the phosphate boom years, with Imperial Lakes as the main subdivision, built from 1977 on. Around the edges are mobile homes and cleared rural lots with room for a barn and a couple of trucks. It's quiet, it's 40 miles from Tampa, and a lot of families have been here for generations.

The rural lots bring brush and old structures: a collapsed shed, a fence line gone to vines, a lot being cleared to set a new mobile home. The skid steer makes short work of it. Mulberry is far enough that Rob wants the job to be worth the trip, and these usually are.
