Junk removal in Polk County from Big Rob's Hauling costs $125 for a single item, $225 for a quarter trailer, $350 for a half trailer and $700 for a full trailer. $125 is the minimum. Every number is all-inclusive: stairs, heavy items and drive time are in it, and it's quoted free from a photo before anyone lifts. How does Big Rob's price a job?

Flat rate by load size. That's the whole model. You tell me what's in the pile, I tell you which size it is, and that's the number. It doesn't change when the crew shows up, and it doesn't change because the couch turned out to be a sleeper.

What actually drives the price?

Four things. In order of how often they matter:

1. Volume. How much of the trailer it fills. This is the big one, and it's why a photo gets you such a close quote. I can look at a garage and see a half trailer.
2. Weight. Heavy items are already in the flat number, so a load of tools costs the same rung as a load of pillows. Two things are handled differently: concrete and dirt don't ride in my dump trailers at all, so I partner with dump trucks and recyclers for those and quote them per job, and tile carries an extra dump-fee charge because of what the facility charges me for it.
3. Stairs and access. A third-floor apartment, a long carry from a back bedroom, a narrow gate. It's crew time, and it's in the flat number up front, not a surprise after.
4. Distance. Davenport, Haines City, Loughman and the Four Corners area are home turf. Lakeland, west Orlando or Brandon add drive time. I'll say so when I quote it.

There is no fuel fee, no disposal fee, no rush fee for same-day. One number. Tires are the one add-on worth knowing: $10 each, $20 with the wheel still on.

Why don't other haulers quote up front?

Because they don't want to be held to it. Katie wrote in her Google review that most of the haulers she called wouldn't give her a quote up front or guarantee their prices. I answered right away and worked out a fair price. That's not me being generous. It's me knowing my costs. I know what a full trailer costs to dump at the county landfill, I know how long a garage takes, and I've done enough of them to be right most of the time.

When I'm wrong and the pile is bigger than described, I say so before we load and we agree on the next size up. When I'm wrong the other way, you pay less.

Does a small job cost the same as a big one?

No, and the small end is where a lot of companies quietly pad. Cheryl put it better than I can. She wrote that she didn't have a huge amount to haul but we still kept the price exactly the same, no bait and switch. The single-item price is the single-item price. If you add a second thing at the last minute, I'll tell you whether it's still a single-item job or bumps to a quarter trailer. Adam's roommate added a snake tank on the spot and it didn't change anything.

What does a whole-house or estate cleanout cost?

Those are multiple full trailers, and I quote them as a total, not per trip. Suzanna needed her dad's house cleared to sell. We loaded the old furniture and everything that couldn't be donated and gave her a fair flat rate for the job. For a house that size I'll usually want to see it, either in person or over a FaceTime walkthrough, so the number covers everything and there's no second conversation.

Things that change an estate quote: how much is heavy (books, tools, tile), how much can be donated instead of dumped (donation sorting is included where it makes sense), and whether there are outbuildings.

Is a dump trailer rental cheaper than junk removal?

Sometimes. A 14-yard dump trailer is $350 and a 16-yard is $400 for 3 days with 2 tons included, so a half trailer's worth of junk costs the same $350 whether you load it over a weekend or my crew loads it in a morning. If you have the time and the back, renting is the cheaper way to move a lot of material. If you want it gone today without lifting, junk removal wins.
