Poinciana was laid out in the early 1970s, and the first villages are pushing fifty. The oaks and pines planted then are huge now, over roofs and fence lines and the neighbor's driveway. Two counties, two sets of yard waste rules

Poinciana straddles the Polk and Osceola line, so where you'd self-haul depends on your side. Polk residents drive to the Northeast Landfill convenience center in Haines City, a flat $10 per car or pickup. Osceola residents go to Bass Road, where yard waste is $56.87 per ton. Rob's flat price doesn't care which village you're in. The landfill tonnage is inside the number, and dirt is the one thing that doesn't ride.
