How Much Does Refrigerator Removal Cost in Polk County?

From $125. That's the floor for one refrigerator or freezer costs to have hauled out of a house in Polk County by Big Rob's, and it's the whole bill. It covers the carry, the stairs, the drive to the scrap yard and the recovery of the refrigerant. There's no fuel charge and no Freon surcharge. Here's what's inside that number, when it steps up, and what the county sites charge if you'd rather haul it yourself.

What does the fridge price include?

Everything between "come get it" and "it's gone."

• The crew walks it out from the kitchen, the garage, the lanai or the upstairs bonus room.
• Doors get taped shut. The dolly and the straps are ours.
• Chest freezers, upright freezers, side-by-sides and the old beer fridge in the garage each count as one unit.
• The run to the scrap yard, where the refrigerant gets pulled before the metal is shredded.

You don't need to have the Freon evacuated first. You don't need a tech to sign anything. Empty it, unplug it the night before, prop the door so it thaws, and we handle the rest. If it's a freezer full of two-year-old venison, tell me ahead of time so the crew comes ready.

When does a fridge stop being a single item?

The minute a second appliance joins it. A fridge alone starts from $125. A fridge plus the old stove and a dishwasher is a quarter trailer at $225. A whole kitchen's worth of appliances plus the cabinets from a remodel is usually a half at $350. I tell you which rung it is from your photo, before we load, so nobody argues in the driveway.

A smaller pile than you described pays the smaller size. That rule runs in both directions.

Can I take a fridge to the Polk County dump myself?

Yes, but not to the closest one. The Northeast Landfill Customer Convenience Center in Haines City, the flat-rate site that opened in June 2026, lists refrigerators and freezers on its refused list. So if you're in Davenport or Haines City with a fridge in the truck bed, that center will turn you around.

The North Central Transfer Station in Auburndale takes them. The county's posted rates are $27.50 per ton for fridges, freezers and A/C units without Freon and $50 per ton with Freon, with a $10 minimum on every load. The unit has to be empty. Residents only, weekdays 8 to 4 and Saturday morning.

If you're on the Osceola side, in Poinciana or Kissimmee, the county's Bass Road facility takes white goods at $37.50 per ton, cards only. Orange County's landfill on Young Pine Road charges a $9 minimum for Freon appliances. Lake County residents have to drive to the Central Facility in Tavares, since the neighborhood drop-off centers don't take appliances. Every one of those sites, with hours and ID rules, is in the county disposal guides.

So the do-it-yourself price is low. The cost is a truck, a second person to lift it in, a weekday trip, and knowing which gate to use.

Where does the refrigerator actually go?

To the scrap yard. Not the landfill. A fridge is mostly steel and copper with a sealed loop of refrigerant in it, and the scrap yard recovers the refrigerant with a machine before the shell goes into the shredder. That's the part people worry about, and it's the part that's already handled. Nothing gets vented in your driveway and nothing gets cut on my trailer.

Compressor, shelves and the plastic liner all go with it. The only things I'd ask you to pull are the food and the magnets.

How fast can it be gone?

Same day most days in Davenport, Haines City, Poinciana and Kissimmee if you text before noon. Winter Haven and Lakeland are usually the next day. A single fridge slides between bigger jobs easily, which is why the small ones move fast.
